About

We are a self advocacy group of learning disabled people in Bury, near Manchester.

We are run by and for learning disabled people, to speak up for our rights and promote our interests in society and local and government policy.

We do this in the following ways:

  • Working alongside local services to ensure that changes and improvements are appropriate to the people we represent

  • Encouraging people to speak up for themselves and others through training, workshops and information gathering

  • Raising awareness of everyday issues such as health, employment, leisure and housing

Our aim is to help people to gain the skills needed to become fully inclusive members of their communities.

To help achieve this aim Bury People First work with many organisations locally, regionally and nationally.

If you would like to know about any of our upcoming workshops or training sessions, please contact us and we will be happy to send you some information.
